Milling, drilling, reaming, turning: The machining of components made of metal or fiber-reinforced plastics in the automotive and aerospace industries, in tool and mould making or in mechanical and plant engineering requires maximum precision and experience. The precision tools required for this are supplied by MAPAL Dr. Kress KG, founded in 1950 and based in Aalen, Baden-Württemberg.

With a global sales team and an extensive portfolio of complex, multi-variant products, MAPAL has been a close partner to its customers for many years and implements manufacturing ideas quickly. The challenge


Digitalization in the manufacturing industry is no easy undertaking: highly complex products, global marketing, growing competition - that is the starting position. MAPAL sees itself as a technology partner to its customers and wanted to offer even better customer service through improved transparency, consistent data and global standards. The company invested in this early on and developed an open, digital, cloud-based platform for collaborative data management. The introduction of the SAP Sales and Commerce Cloud was a further step towards digital transformation.


The aim now is to create end-to-end processes that enable an optimal customer experience on all channels. Another building block here is the introduction of SAP CPQ and the 3rd-party software Zovoo to support MAPAL's wide range of products.

The goal: a digital and standardized quotation management system that integrates seamlessly into the SAP-based infrastructure and gives the sales team more time for the essentials: Contact with the customer.

CPQ and Zoovu - a perfect match

Zoovu Guided Selling enables the MAPAL sales team to identify the right product in SAP CPQ. A configuration option in the customer portal for requests for quotations is also planned.

  • Product configuration and customer-specific prices via SAP Configuration and Pricing Services (using the variant configuration in the ERP as a basis)
  • Bidirectional quotation replication with SAP ERP enables a view of product availability and delivery times
